Microsoft has announced two policy changes related to their Windows Phone platform.
The company said that they are in the process of removing the app browsing functionality from the Zune software.
Users are recommended to either use their desktop browsers or the mobile based app store to search for apps to buy/download.
As a general rule, we like to focus our engineering efforts where they matter most, and your taps and clicks tell us that’s our phone and web stores. So starting today we began the process of removing the Windows Phone apps option from the Zune software. The Zune HD app store will remain open.
The second policy is a pretty major one. Microsoft would soon require the devices to be running Windows Phone 7.5 if they want to purchase or download apps. This update is now out for all the existing models in the market and the company suggests that users who are still running an older version should upgrade using the Zune application.
