Carrier IQ is making headlines these days. Apparently mobile phone makers and carriers are bundling this hidden app on their phones to collect data about calls, texts and web activities of the users.
The company claims that they do not collect personal information. The focus is on problems faced by users which are sent to the carriers.
Industry analysts are not impressed however. Carrier IQ is being termed as a malware that should not exist in the first place.
Popular Android ROM developer Supercurio has released an app on the Android Market that can be used to see if your Android smartphone has it installed. The app is currently heavily in development and can give false results. The app is expected to receive updates to enhance the quality of detection.
Once you have confirmed the existence of Carrier IQ on your device, you can then decide what to do next!
