Twitter announces twt.tl primarily for controlling phishing links
Twitter has technically announced their own link shortening service twt.tl.
The company said that they are going to start routing all links posted on their network through a scanner for malware.
This way, they would be able to ‘detect, intercept, and prevent the spread of bad links across all of Twitter’.
The company added in a blog posting:
Since these attacks occur primarily on Direct Messages and email notifications about Direct Messages, this is where we have focused our initial efforts. For the most part, you will not notice this feature because it works behind the scenes but you may notice links shortened to twt.tl in Direct Messages and email notifications.
