TiVo to help parents select content for kids
TiVo has announced that they are working on developing a new service for their consumers, which would help the parents to control what kind of content their kids should watch. The company is a pioneer of digital- video recorders and is facing more competition than ever with their services in the North American market.
TiVo plans to make this service available by June this year and would rely on information provided by two family focused organizations, Common Sense Media and the Parents Television Council. Consumers would be able to choose from a menu of shows approved by each group.
TiVo seems to be interested in providing this service under growing pressures from the Federal Communications Commission for the television industry to provide better screening options. This might also help the company attract more customers interested in providing safe viewing to their kids.
