TED already has mobile apps that stream the videos from their conferences for free.
They have now launched a new app named TED Books for the Apple iOS platform.
This one is aimed at generating revenues through sales and subscription of books.
The company spoke about the books on offer:
TED Books are short original electronic books produced every two weeks by TED Conferences. Like the best TEDTalks, they’re personal and provocative, and designed to spread great ideas. TED Books are typically under 20,000 words — long enough to unleash a powerful narrative, but short enough to be read in a single sitting.
About the purchasing process:
TED Books can be purchased individually, or readers can subscribe and automatically receive a new eBook every two weeks. Those who subscribe within 90 days of our July 10, 2012 launch — whom we call Founding Subscribers — can download our entire back catalog at no charge.
