Tata Motors to market Fiat cars in India
Italy based Fiat is seeking another lifeline in the Indian market and this time they have the support of the domestic auto major Tata. Both the companies have collaborated with each other, which would see Tata selling Fiat branded cars in the Indian market. Fiat as a result would have access to the large network of Tata Motors in India.
Tata in return would get technical feedback and know-how from the Italian auto major. Tata would benefit a lot, as they would be able to offer latest technologies to their customers in the Indian market. The collaboration would come into effect from March this year when select models from the Fiat range would be available from Tata showrooms.
Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata said in the presence of Fiat SpA CEO Sergio Marchionne in a statement: “Two big automakers have come together looking at opportunities not confined to India but spreading to other places of the world. It will be a long-term relationship and several strategic alliances will be announced in future.â€
Fiat believes that this deal would also help them offer better services to new and existing customers of their automobiles. Fiat SpA CEO Sergio Marchionne said in a statement: “I am confident that this association will expand in the areas of product development, manufacturing, and sourcing.â€
