TVS Motor has become the third largest seller of two wheelers in the Indian market. They have overtaken Bajaj Auto to take the top spot.
Hero MotoCorp continues to dominate the Indian market with Honda at the second place.
TVS has outsold Bajaj in the second quarter of the year and they are likely to maintain the lead in the near future.
Bajaj has been struggling to maintain their position at the top after reducing focus on the scooters market. Honda saw the opportunity and took the lead there. Hero of course has dominated them in the bike segment for a long time now.

Bajaj has stated that they are focused on dominating the same segment in multiple markets instead of focusing on sales figure in one market. They are also focusing on profitability rather than numbers.
TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad have announced a collaboration which would see the two companies develop products together for sale in the Indian and international markets.
The two companies would focus on the sub-500cc bike segment. TVS would sell these bikes in India. BMW would sell these models in the international markets under their own branding.
This is great news for TVS as they get access to new generation engine technology from BMW. BMW benefits as they would gain from the expertise of TVS in developing low cost bikes with less powerful engines.
Indian two wheeler company TVS Motor is expected to announce today a collaboration with BMW Motorrad.
BMW Motorrad is the motorcycle division of the German automaker. The two companies are likely to share technology as part of this deal.
TVS would gain access to latest engine technology if a deal is indeed in place. The company is struggling to compete against the likes of Hero MotoCorp and Honda India. Bajaj of course is also a phenomenal competitor which access to engine technology through multiple partnerships.
TVS Motor Company has launched their 2012 edition Apache RTR bike range.
The company has updated all the models including: RTR 160, RTR 180 and RTR 180ABS.
The updated models come with improved styling and updated pilot lamps with LEDs.

TVS aims to launch electric scooters next year
TVS Motor Company has announced that they would re-enter the electric scooter market next year.
The company is currently testing a batch of 50 prototypes.
TVS said: “We are working on introducing electric scooters and these are being experimented for the launch. By sometime next fiscal, it will come.”
There are no current plans to launch electric bikes. The first generation models would feature lead acid batteries.
The company aims to switch to more efficient technologies in the future.
TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS launched. Priced at Rs. 79,000
TVS Motor has launched a new variant of their Apache motorcycle model.
TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS is priced at around Rs. 79,000 and it comes equipped with Anti-lock Braking System.
ABS has already become a popular offering on cars in the Indian market. It is good to see that bike manufacturers are also incorporating it on their products.
The company is only selling a white colored model of this variant.
TVS stated that if the demand for this model is high, they would launch a similar ABS loaded version of the 160cc edition. They are also working on a 200cc edition of Apache which could be launched before the end of the year.
TVS Electronics launches TVS Gold Bharat keyboard with the new rupee symbol
TVS Electronics has launched a new keyboard model named TVS Gold Bharat.
TVS Gold Bharat comes with the new Indian Rupee symbol on the ~ key.
It is not clear what kind of a software solution they are offering with this keyboard as we could not locate any relevant information on their website.
Without the software support, we doubt that this keyboard can accomplish anything.
TVS Gold Bharat is of course based on their TVS Gold model which is an excellent piece of hardware when it comes to build quality.
TVS sold 1,63,106 units last month
TVS Motor Company has come out with their sales report for the month of July.
The Indian two wheeler maker sold 1,63,106 bikes and scooters last month.
This is an improvement of around 35% compared to the same period last year.
The company said: “Cumulative two-wheeler sales for the period April to July, 2010, increased 32 per cent from 4,68,085 units in the same period of the previous year to 6,19,147 units in the current period. Three-wheeler sales of the company crossed the three thousand mark for the second consecutive month, recording 3,108 units in July, 2010, in comparison to 1,026 units in July, 2009.”
TVS fails to sell many electric Scooty Teenz units
TVS Motor Company has announced that they are halting the production of their electric scooter models due to lack of demand in the Indian market.
The company in fact also has a three wheeler model powered by electricity but they are delaying the launch.
TVS said: “We have an electric three-wheeler, which we had planned to introduce but there is no market for such products. So we don’t have any plans to launch it now.”
TVS sells a model named Scooty Teenz Electric which is powered with electricity.
The company is now concentrating on their regular models which continues to do well in the market.
TVS Wego Scooter coming out this month
TVS Motor Company has announced that they would launch a new scooter model this month.
This new product is named TVS Wego.
The company said that TVS Wego would be targeted at both boys and girls as it would feature a unisex design.
TVS is already the third largest two wheeler manufacturer after Hero Honda and Bajaj Auto. They are boosting their product range to gain on Bajaj.
