mRUPEE Ties Up With IRCTC; Offers Easy Payment Option

Association will enable travelers to pay for rail tickets via mRUPEE wallet; a simple, safe and convenient payment option

mRUPEE, a subsidiary of Tata Teleservices, today announced that it has tied up with IRCTC, India’s largest e-commerce company, to provide an additional payment gateway. Indian Railways carries more than 23 million passengers a day[1] and the association will allow users one-tap payments for rail ticket bookings via mRUPEE wallet for a significant number of travelers.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), is a subsidiary of the Indian Railways that handles the catering, tourism and online ticketing operations of the railways. As the biggest e-commerce portal in India, IRCTC holds record of over 13 lakh tickets booked in a day in April 2015[2]. The portal sees approximately 4.5 to 5 lakhs bookings per day on an average[3].

mRUPEE has recently tied up with SmartD, a lifestyle management platform, which helps consumers in Chennai to explore delicious, healthy and affordable food every day. Also, mRUPEE had earlier announced its partnership with ICICI Bank to launch a recharge facility for Delhi Metro cards. MMPL also launched the Open Loop prepaid, VISA powered, card in partnership with RBL Bank (Ratnakar Bank). By obtaining a PaySmart card, mRUPEE customers are able to withdraw money from VISA licensed ATMs and also pay for goods and services at all merchants that accept VISA Debit/Credit cards nationally.

These plans range from INR 49 to INR 225 for Post Pay and INR 46 to INR 90 for Pre-pay customers respectively, offering reduced local and outgoing STD call rates and unlimited free incoming calls.

For the Post-pay plans at INR 49, 99, 149, 199 and 225, customers will have to pay a monthly rental of the same value to avail all Local and STD outgoing calls on roaming at only 60p/min, 50p/min, 35p/min, 25p/min and 50p/min respectively. Post-pay customers opting for the first four plans will also enjoy free incoming calls on the Tata Docomo network for one month. The customers opting for plan at INR 76 and INR 90 will also enjoy free talk time of INR 25 and INR 40 respectively.

Tata Teleservices appoints Anuraag Srivastava as CFO

Tata Teleservices Limited, today announced the appointment of Anuraag Srivastava as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the company.

Anuraag brings with him over 20 years of experience as a finance professional, with the last decade spent in leadership roles in Finance in consumer goods and telecom businesses in multiple geographies across India , USA , UK and South Asia .
