Mumbai, 22nd August 2017: After completing a successful decade of existence, the Renewable Energy India 2017 Expo (REI), hosted by UBM India, India’s leading exhibitions organiser is set to take place from 20th to 22nd September 2017 at the India Expo Center, Greater Noida. A flagship event, REI is the most reputed global platform where India’s green economy community including overseas participants will congregate to discuss industry trends, challenges and market insights including the Indian regulatory framework. Speaking on the announcement of the 11th anniversary of Renewable Energy India, Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India said, “The Indian solar sector is growing rapidly with a capacity addition of 4,765MW during H1 of 2017, according to a recent report. Rooftop solar is also showing a robust growth as solar power becomes increasingly more attractive with falling costs. Second edition of RenewX commences in Hyderabad

Industry platform for the renewable energy sector in South India by UBM India

UBM India, organisers of Renewable Energy India ( REI ) Expo launched the second edition of RenewX, a two day expo ( April 7-8 ) at Hitex, Hyderabad today. The expo witnessed a congregation of South India’s green economy community to discuss industry trends, challenges and market insights. It also served as an industry platform for organisations to capitalize and penetrate into the lucrative South Indian renewable energy market.

Adjacent to the expo, a two day conference themed “Sourcing the Sun” was held, which highlighted the needs to integrate Renewable Energy into Business. The conference focused on the best solutions and practices that could lead to an increased integration of Clean Energy into businesses. The Conference attracted over 45 Speakers and over 150 Industry delegates, the key focus was to also include and invite Industry leaders from other industries and give them a overview of Solar Industry and its potential.

Day one of the expo also saw sessions on ‘Converting Curiosity into Demand’, ‘International Perspective on the Indian Solar Rooftop Market’, ‘Sunny Side Up’ (Where the Industry Leaders shared insights on the most pressing issues in the sector), ‘Today or Tomorrow?’ (A unique session which aimed at bringing the volley of questions from the project costs to tariffs to finance that has been on the minds of each customer and technical presentations).

The announcement of the second edition of RenewX comes at a time when renewables continue to increasingly carve a bigger space in the country’s generation sphere, encouraged by government funding. Green power, for instance, is driving the growth in India’s electricity generation as the total installed solar capacity, including rooftop and off-grid projects, has crossed 10 gW, according to latest government and market data. On a pan Indian scale, while Tamil Nadu has the highest installed solar energy capacity, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana follow closely along with Rajasthan and Gujarat. The renewable energy sector has recently got a further impetus with the government announcing an ambitious scheme to double solar power generation capacity under the solar parks scheme to 40,000 megawatts (mW) by 2020, with Rs. 8,100 Crores assistance to fund 30% of the initial project cost of
developers. In 2017 itself, India is expected to add new solar capacity of 8-10 gW, a growth of 137% over last year, a recent report by Bridge To India, a green energy-focused consultant, indicated.
