Speaking on the announcement of the 6th edition of DJGF and the ever-growing prospects of the jewellery industry in North India, Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India said, “Despite a slight slowdown in the jewellery sector after demonetisation and GST rollout, the jewellery industry is expected to register a 10 per cent growth in the current fiscal, especially during the festive season, that is slated to set in earlier this year. The Delhi Jewellery and Gem Fair, just prior to the season will act as a ready reckoner for trends, innovations, and insights, and help the industry take advantage of this growth. Currently, the Gems and Jewellery market is witnessing remarkable changes in consumer preferences owing to economic and geographical influences. Young millennials with disposable income seek to purchase innovative and bespoke designs for aesthetic rather than for purely investment purposes. The organised sector will continue to play a fundamental role as it has the potential to adapt to the consumer and economic changes. While still at a nascent stage, the opportunities for growth for the organised retail jewellery market in India are unlimited."

“In 2016, the 5th edition of Delhi Jewellery and Gem Fair reinforced a sense of trust in the jewellery market and offered an array of scintillating products. Over the years too, the fair has rapidly evolved as an industry trade platform for the Indian jewellery sector in North India. DJGF 2017 – the North’s largest show in terms of size and volume in its 6th edition will further augment and elevate this sector. The fair comes with a rich legacy of fortifying our India footprints in the jewellery vertical along with successful shows in Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chennai.”- he further added.

TAGMA India announces 2nd International Tooling Summit 2017 in New Delhi

TAGMA INDIA – the Apex Body of Indian Tooling Industry proudly announces the 2nd International Tooling Summit 2017 to be held on the 9th and 10th February 2017, at The Grand Hotel, New Delhi.

The summit will be gathering of 300+ key Policy Makers, CEOs, MDs, Manufacturing Heads, Purchase Heads, Business Heads, etc. thus giving an immense opportunity to the entire tooling fraternity to learn, network & Benchmark with the industry.
The Tool Room Industry forms an integral part of the production process in almost every industry and are considered the mother industry of all manufacturing units in the country. The rapid growth of industries such as Automobiles and Auto Components, Domestic appliances, Consumer Electronics and Consumer Durables – in the wake of the rising economic growth – ensures the expanding need and demand for Dies, Moulds, Tools and Gauges. The ever-shortening life-cycle of products, resulting from intense competition in industries, also warrants the development of new tooling devices and designs.

This two day annual summit will host the panel discussions with experts to address the industry’s growth challenges, meeting the skill gap through fellowship and focus on technologies in manufacturing Tool, Dies and Moulds. The summit provides a great platform for tool and gauge manufacturers to share their efforts in helping the manufacturing industry in realizing their potential.

Earlier the tooling industry was dependent on automobile and auto component sector for majority of its business but today sectors like White goods, FMCG, Electrical switchgear and PVC fittings are also contributing to the growth of the Indian tool making industry. The Government’s focus on ‘Make In India’ campaign and emphasis is being given to the emerging areas like Aerospace, Defence, Power, railways and heavy engineering has given a new lease of life to the tooling sector with an expectancy of 15-20% year on year growth.

Speaking on the announcement of the International Tooling Summit 2017, Mr. A. Dayanand Reddy, President, TAGMA said, “We are happy to announce the International Tooling Summit 2017, a two day technical conference on tooling. Tool and Gauge Manufacturers Association (TAGMA) has always taken up issues that are important in the larger picture. The tool and gauge manufacturing industry in India needs a platform to voice its efforts and achievements in raising the potential of the manufacturing industry. Hence, International Tooling Summit will be a platform for international and national business leaders to get together, and share their opinion with industry delegates. This Summit is aimed at highlighting India as the future-tooling

destination thereby contributing to the growth of the Indian tooling industry. ITS 2017 is TAGMA’s endeavor to present the Indian manufacturers a platform to present to the world, their state of the art technology, and qualitative products despite the lower cost of operations.”

However, despite the various other policies that form an incentive for the tooling industry, the sector is yet to make a mark in the global picture. The Die, Moulds and Press Tool manufacturing industry has substantial multiplier effect on the domestic economy hence must be nurtured to become self reliant.

After demonetization, manufacturing sector was expecting considerable measures to boost the economy and the recently presented Union Budget 2017 comes across as a well balanced approach as there are many important proposals which will have positive impact on the manufacturing industry. Higher allocation to infrastructure, railways, housing, airways, defence, shipping etc will spur manufacturing activity in the country. Similarly, reduction in corporate tax rates to 25% for entities with turnover less than INR 50 crores will boost SME sector. In the Budget 2017, the Government has also removed the inverted duty structure in industries like LED which will give a great boost to the manufacturing sector.

Safe Cities: IFSEC India’s advocacy for Industry

10th edition of South Asia’s largest Security event by UBM India

300 Companies, 20+ Countries showcases Smart Security for Emerging India

As part of the world’s leading portfolio of security and fire safety events, the International Fire & Security Exhibition and Conference (IFSEC) India, expo hosted by UBM India, is back once again with its 10th edition of the expo scheduled from 8th – 10th December 2016 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Supported by APSA and ESAI, the expo is the region’s pre-eminent authority on the expertise and guidance of industrial security.

Today, cities across the world are constantly evolving faster than at any point in history. They have become more congested, and criminal activities have soared up, leading to the destruction of public assets. Compounding the problems, terrorism has become a major concern that presents communities and neighbourhoods with new security problems. Faced with a wealth of often elusive challenges, cities are expected to manage and control the change to allow their communities to have a standard of living that meets modern-day expectations.

In the age of smart technology and to match the pace of smart cities, the need for smart security is of utmost significance. The rising need for advanced security, increasing public surveillance, growing IT infrastructure, increasing IT spends, and surging criminal activities have spurred the market for IP Video Surveillance systems in India. From the earlier Analog CCTV technology, there has been a steady technology shift to Internet Protocol (IP) based (digital), open source and fully integrated systems, with the option for remote surveillance, background screening, video analytics, digital video and sensor-based detection. It has hardly surprising then that the fastest growing end-user industry is projected to be city surveillance.

The growing awareness in the retail and enterprise segment too is giving security solutions a cult status. Under these circumstances, IFSEC India will act as catalysts for the progress and vision of the industry, as we provide a platform for industry players to collectively ideate, innovate, and spot trends like the shift in India’s security paradigm from a preventive approach to a monitoring and response strategy. In its tenth edition, IFSEC is proud to feature technologies pertaining to biometrics, transport, access control, in addition to surveillance, for the knowledge of end users and providers.

Over 300 companies from 20+ countries from the security and fire domain have confirmed participation for the 2016 edition; some of the premier plus partners include Aditya Infotech, Advik, Dahua, ERD Technologies, ESSL, HI-Focus, Hikvision, HANWHA TECHWIN(formerly SAMSUNG TECHWIN), Secureye, Fortune Marketing, Tech smart, Tenda, Hamsa, Uniview, ZKTeco. Our Premier Partners include ACSYS, Axestrack, Blue I, Face ID, Honeywell, Lilin, Mantra, Panasonic, Road point, Sparsh, Starex, Unicam systems, Unique Electrovision and Zebronics.

Speaking on the announcement of IFSEC India 2016, Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India said, “According to industry reports by The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham), India, along with Britain, Germany and France is poised to emerge as one of largest player in global Homeland Security (HLS) market by 2020. The demand for video surveillance in India has grown not only in corporate houses but also risen sharply among the RWAs and security agencies as well. The demand for other security systems like Access Control, Biometrics, Alarm Systems, Transport Security, Home Automation, Perimeter Security and Metal Detectors has increased too. The booming demand for these security solutions, falling costs of products & installation coupled with hassle-free installation & portability is making wireless security an instant hit. Against this landscape, IFSEC 2016, South Asia’s largest annual exposition in the security industry, shall showcase some of the finest IP electronic surveillance technologies & architectures to secure our tomorrows.”

“This year, we have also reached an important milestone and achieved a new momentum with the 10th anniversary of our expo which will provide a perfect platform for stakeholders from the security and fire community to come together and address challenges that have acted as speed bumps to this growth.” he further added.

With the increasing focus on Homeland security in India, IFSEC India, this year has decided to proactively decipher relevant insights gained in the global security market by conducting a two day conference with the theme ‘Security strategies to counter external and internal threats’ and ‘Creating a Smarter and Safer World with State-of-the-art Security Technology’ alongside the exhibition. The expo is supported by Assocham & PWC as ‘Conference’ and ‘Knowledge Partners’, respectively.

This year, IFSEC India will be launching the first ever IFSEC India Awards in India. The Electronic Security Industry in India is proliferating and the awards are crafted to specially get the minds behind electronic security in various industry verticals like BFSI, Retail, Manufacturing, Energy, Healthcare, PSUs, IT & ITES and Infrastructure in the limelight. The awards will recognise the excellence and innovations of CSOs & Security officers who continuously work behind the scenes to ensure robust security. India Smart Grid Week (ISGW) 2016 is the second edition of the Conference cum Exhibition on Smart Grids and Smart Cities organized by India Smart Grid Forum from 15-19 March, 2016 at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi. The initiative is being supported by Ministry of Power, Government of India and several other government institutions and international agencies.

Leading experts and delegates from national and international organizations will participate in this conference and discussions will center on the energy requirements of the country, capabilities of smart grids, their cost effectiveness and benefits. Eminent speakers at the conference include Dr. Amory B Lovins – Co Founder and Chief Scientist of Rocky Mountain Institute, Mr. Phil Beecher – Chairman of Wi-Sun Alliance, Martin Ford – Author of best seller “Rise of Robots”, Professor Ignatio from MIT, Former FERC Commissioner Suedeen Kelly, Technology Entrepreneur Chris Hickman etc.

Smart Grid it is an evolving set of technologies to transform the electricity grid in to a more intelligent and reliable grid with integrated control centre that can monitor and control electricity flows in real time up to each individual customers and even up to the smart appliances inside a customer’s house, office or factory.

Although India operates one of the largest electricity grids in the world with 290 GW generation capacity, over 250 million people are not connected to the grid and several parts of the country experience frequent power cuts. India’s per capita consumption of electricity which is one-third of world average is expected to increase as the economic development of the country progresses. As the quality of life will witness ascendancy, people’s demands will rise on a parallel note. With an ever-increasing need of energy and challenges such as need to control power theft and transmission losses, India has launched ambitions missions to establish smart grids and smart cities. Making energy supplies efficient is key to power the country’s industries and growth but the power infrastructure in India faces challenges in capacity. While millions of Indians still have no or limited access to electricity, power outages and poor supply quality are other major challenges hampering the country’s economic development.

Smart grid technologies can help electric utilities manage supply and demand effectively in real time and avoid power cuts, ensure power quality that will eliminate the need for voltage stabilizers and inverters and also help customers save money by shifting some of their electricity usage like water pumping, washing machines etc to run during non-peak hours at reduced rates.

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Global Smart Grid Federation (GSGF), India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA), UK Trade & Investment(UKTI),Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP),International Council on Large Electric Sysytems (CIGRE),International Smart Grid Action Network (ISGAN), International Electrotechnical Commission(IEC),Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) are among the supporting partners of the conference. Some themes to be discussed include Role of Smart Grids in New programs of Government of India; Smart City Mission in India; National Smart Grid Mission (NSGM); 21st Century Electric Grids – Evolving trends towards 100% renewable and Disruptive Innovations; Smart Grid Project Outcomes: Experiences and Lessons learned etc. There is also a Special Plenary Session for Recap of RE-INVEST in association with MNRE; and a Special Workshop on Smart Grids as Anchor Infrastructure for Smart Cities for the Municipal Commissioners from 20 selected Smart Cities.
