Sanjay Kaul, Managing Director, Service Provider Business, Cisco India & SAARC –

“India finds itself in the middle of a digital revolution and, by 2020 Internet traffic will be equivalent to 249x the volume of the traffic in 2005, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 33% y-o-y. Much of this growth will be fueled by massive consumer adoption of personal devices and use of machine-to-machine connections. The continued increase of mobile data traffic, networked devices and M2M connections will impact healthcare, agriculture, manufacturing, retail, transportation and other key industries, substantially, as the next decade dawns. Considering this, network architecture must be programmed to meet the requisite demands and manage the data volume. Deploying advanced network infrastructure requires a next-gen approach to withstand the digital vortex.”

Greenwood High Students holds 1st TEDx Conference

The students of Greenwood High International School organized their first ever TEDx event- TEDxGWHSchool, under the auspices of TED. The event saw participation of around 100 students from various schools in a gala event filled with brilliant speakers, thought-provoking video and mind-blowing conversation. The theme for this event, which was an independently organized TED event, was ‘Transcending Synapses’. The event had eminent personalities sharing ideas on the massive platform.

The event, curated over the last seven months through organized efforts of the students, offered a platform to unleash new ideas, inspire and inform the students across the city. Focusing on its theme, the event revolved around Cultural Gaps, Language and Misunderstanding and ‘Why Ideas Take so Long to Spread’. The event hosted renowned urban vigilantes as guest speakers who spoke about their experiences and ideas in the context of this theme. Speakers such as Subrat Mohanty, Manoj Kabre, Radhika Nathan, Dr. Raju Gubbi, Meera K, Nelson Vadassery spoke at length about their journey and shared their inspired narratives with the attendees at the event.

Students from the organizing team, Ms. Raksha Murali, Content Producer, Ms. Shaili Mathur, Sponsorship and Funds Manager and Ms. Riya Agrawal, Event Manager said, “TEDxGWHSchool gave us the opportunity to galvanize our talents while balancing our other responsibilities as students. We learned a great deal about the nitty-gritty of finances, business and developing inter-personal relationships. We spent months and countless hours in scriptwriting and rehearsing that helped us put on a great show. Sketching out a schedule, overseeing logistics, procuring supplies, and planning the numerous attendee activities was a mammothous task and we shall forever be indebted to Greenwood for giving us the opportunity to carry out the event.

Ms. Niru Agarwal, Trustee, Greenwood High International School, said, “Obtaining a license for organising a TEDx event is a herculean task. We have always been supportive to the students and trust their capabilities to execute an event independently. The event was well thought and intricately planned by our students who had responsibly delegated work amongst themselves. We are glad that our institution has got the opportunity to host such a prestigious event. We always encourage our students to come up with new ideas and innovations and hope that this event will help bring out many such ideas among the participants”.
