The largest trade show for environmental technologies

IFAT India 2017 will be held at the Bombay Convention and Exhibition Center, Goregaon from 26th to 28th September 2017. After successful openings at Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Delhi, the organizers will be making a final stop at Mumbai on September 8, 2017 for a promotional tour of the trade show to raise awareness about various environmental issues in the region as well as the discuss latest solutions and innovations which are in the market.

IFAT India 2017 is a three- day trade show which is expecting over 170 participants from 18 countries. Among them are market leaders like L&T, Thermax, Ion Exchange, Ramky, Aqseptance Group, Endress+Hauser, Excel, Kirloskar Brothers, Kishor Pumps, Tata Projects, Wilo, Siemens, Lanxess, Astral Poly, Xylem, CRI Pumps, LG Chem, Wipro Water and many more. The 2017 edition will also feature country pavilions from China, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The trade fair will witness technical presentations, panel discussions and tutorials, where industry experts – both from India and overseas –will share their knowledge with the audience at the Innovation Exchange. There will also be a dedicated area for training, live demonstrations, product presentations and skills contests, running parallel to the show. The aim of the Active Learning Center is to promote talent and combat the shortage of skilled workers in the Indian environmental sector.

According to the experts, with the increasing population, the management of municipal solid waste (MSW) in the country has emerged as a severe problem because of the sheer quantities generated every day. According to the Annual Report of State Pollution published in 2015-16, the state of Maharashtra comprising of 262 local bodies generates around 21,867 tonnes of MSW every day of which 86.7% is contributed by class-A cities. Air pollution is also emerging out as a key concern in a developing economy like India; more than 80% of Indian cities violate the prescribed standards of air quality.

In today’s globally interconnected society, it is more important than ever to build a policy framework that can evolve and adapt rapidly to this growing threat. The trade show will also provide an opportunity to industry experts, policy makers and business leaders to discuss regional strategies on numerous environmental challenges and seek solutions through formal interactions.

Along with the trade exhibition IFAT INDIA with its partners will concurrently organize multiple interactive programs, to name a few – Air Quality Management Workshop by SDG (Sustainable Development Goals Foundation); Workshop on entrepreneurship in waste management by ISWA (International Solid Waste Association); Biogas Panel by GIZ, German Biogas Association and Indian Biogas Association; Water Skills Competition by Skill Council for Green Jobs, GIZ and DWA.

IFAT INDIA will also host an Environmental Technologies Conference in association with TERI, which will focus on issues related to Air Pollution, Solid Waste Management and Urban Water Management in the context of Sustainable Development.  This edition will also witness a new initiative Business to Government Forum that will provide states an ideal platform to announce new projects, to find matching solutions for new tenders and to inform participants about the latest policies in the environmental sector.

electronica India 2016 and productronica India 2016, the leading trade fairs for electronic components and manufacturing technologies take place from September 21-23, 2016 at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) in Bangalore. This edition is set to be the biggest edition of the trade fairs marked by over 400 exhibitors representing 650 companies from 16 countries including Japan, France, Korea, Malaysia, Switzerland to name a few. Telit acquires wireless communications assets to boost capabilities in low-power Internet of Things market

Telit, a global enabler of the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced that it has agreed to acquire Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)and Near Field Communication (NFC) assets in hardware and software from Stollmann Entwicklungs und Vertriebs Gmbh (“Stollmann”)in Hamburg, Germany. Stollmann is a global player in the Bluetooth and NFC business,designing, developing and manufacturing cutting-edge, low-power Bluetooth modules and highly sophisticated software solutions for short range wireless communications. Assets in acquisition include among others, Stollmann’s Bluetooth and NFC software stacks, ready-to-use modules and other intellectual property (IP) in wireless communications. Thirty-five Stollmann employees, mainly R&D engineers, are to be transferred to Telit.

The acquisition of the Stollmann assets represents another strategic step for Telit in its expanding vision of connecting an ever broader range of things to cloud. Industry analyst firm MarketsandMarkets estimates the global Bluetooth Smart and “Smart-Ready” market to be worth $5.6bn by 2020 with Bluetooth Smart shipments to surpass 1.2 billion units in five years, up from just 49 million units in 2013.

The City Of Munich Joins The Document Foundation Advisory Board

The Document Foundation (TDF) announces that the city of Munich has joined TDF Advisory Board, where it will be represented by Florian Haftmann. Back in 2003, the city of Munich – the third largest in Germany – has launched Project LiMux to migrate their software systems from closed-source, proprietary products to free and open-source software. The project was successfully completed in late 2013, which involved migrating 16,000 personal computers and laptops of public employees to free and open-source software. The City of Munich has hosted a LibreOffice HackFest since 2011, to improve features targeted to enterprise environments.

Microsoft has announced that they are expanding the availability of their Surface and Surface Pro Tablets through business channels in 17 new markets. Most of these are in Europe: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK.

Microsoft added:

In addition to offering Microsoft’s extended warranty and accidental damage, resellers bring a variety of additional value-added services to the Surface family, such as asset tagging, custom imaging, kitting, onsite service and support, device recycling and data protection. But we’re not stopping here. We’re committed to authorizing a select set of additional partners in these markets in the coming weeks.

The company has already indirectly admitted that Surface has been a massive financial failure for them. Microsoft is also facing a lawsuit that claims that they kept the investors out of loop resulting in financial losses for them.

Google Play Music All Access comes to most European countries

Google has silently expanded their All Access music streaming service to a bunch of European countries.

Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, and the UK are now included in the official list where All Access should be available.

Germany is the surprising missing entry. It is now the only market where Google Play Music is available but the streaming service is not.

The service is priced at 7.99 Pounds in UK and 7.99 Euros in rest of the European countries. This is an introductory pricing which is expected to rise to 9.99 Pounds/Euros after a few weeks. A 30 day trial is available to interested consumers.
