The merger would result in some job cuts at the company as they aim to cut costs and operate under the same entity.
Industry sources say that around 2000 jobs might be cut as part of this restructuring exercise.

airtel provides IPTV services through their Digital TV Interactive platform.
The company has been offering these services in Delhi NCR region for around two years now.
airtel IPTV offers competitive pricing when bundled with their broadband packages.
However, looking at the mess they have created with their new internet packages, we can only warn heavy internet users to think before applying for this connection.
airtel messes up their DTH service with crappy logo placement
airtel launched their new logo today. And this logo has already started appearing on their Digital TV network.
And as you can see from the screenshot below, the logo placement is horrible. It is not translucent in nature. It is huge.
Overall, it is a disaster for all the airtel DTH customers in the Indian market.
What a shame.

Airtel has become strange in a way they detail their plans and packages. The company announced a couple of months ago that they are going to upgrade speeds of their unlimited plans by June this year. The company did not clarify several things…
What happens to folks who are on different speed during day and night plans.
What happens to folks who are on IPTV plans.
What happens to folks who migrated to double speeds paying Rs. 100 during the special offer.
What happens to folks on 2mbps unlimited plans.
What is the FUP limits on the new double speed plans.
Airtel Broadband offering double speeds to Airtel DTH customers
Airtel Broadband has been causing a lot of confusion in the recent days. Some of their recent offers are creating a mess in the mindset of their customers.
Some customers are being offered double speed for Rs. 100 on their existing connections. No criteria has been revealed publicly.
Some other customers are getting double speeds just like that. Sources say that the company is increasing speeds of all of their customers in a step by step way.
Now, Airtel has launched a new offer promising double speeds for their DTH customers. This offer works for a period of 12 months.
Nothing has been explained except for one thing that the offer is applicable only on select plans.

Airtel has finally delivered the much awaited firmware update to the users of their IPTV services.
There are a couple of new features while the user interface has been updated slightly.
Here are some screenshots…
Some new features:
Searching of programs in Time Shift mode (Very useful).
Ability to add channels as favorites (Again very useful).
We are thankful of Airtel for these updates! Also because they still have kept off their logo from the broadcast unlike their DTH services.
Tata Sky: Airtel Digital TV making false claims in their ads
Tata Sky DTH has asked the Advertising Standards Council of India to verify the claims made by Airtel in their DTH service advertisements.
Airtel Digital TV ads claim that their service is based on MPEG 4 DVB-S2 technology which has a better picture quality compared to other service providers.
Tata Sky said: “MPEG-4 and DVB S2 are compression standards and have no impact on video picture quality. We want to correct the myth in the minds of the consumers that MPEG-4 DVB S2 provides better picture quality than other technologies used to provide digital signals.”
Airtel on their part have said: “We have sent our reply to ACI. Our claim is that our technology is superior to ordinary technology, which includes analogue cable.”
Indian DTH service providers use several technologies based on two compression standards MPEG-2 and MPEG-4.
