Mozilla Firefox getting native support for H.264/AAC/MP3 on Windows 7 and later

Mozilla developers have announced that they have enabled native support for H.264/AAC/MP3 file formats on latest nightlies of Firefox for Windows 7 and later.

This option is now enabled by default and would be used by HTML5 video and audio elements.

This feature is expected to become part of the stable build of Firefox 22 which is currently scheduled to ship on June 25.

PreCentral has announced the release of a new mobile application named Precorder which enables Palm Pre owners to record videos with their Pre smartphone.

This application is currently in alpha testing stage and does not offer many features.

It does however works and record videos at 30 FPS 480x320px resolution.

The application supports AAC, AMRNB, and MP3 audio encoding along with MPEG-4, H.263, and H.264/AVC video encoding.

Users get the ability to output videos in mp4 and 3gp file formats.

Western Digital launches WD TV Media Player

Western Digital has announced the launch of their own media player product named WD TV Media Player.

This player is the latest challenger to Apple TV which has set the standards for this segment of the market.

This new player from Western Digital is priced at an affordable $129.99.

This device is designed to support a variety of audio, photo, and video files. Customers can connect to it any form of USB mass storage device.

It comes with a remote control and the device can be connected to a television set via HDMI or standard composite AV cables.

WD said in a statement on this new device launch: “Users leave the WD TV HD Media Player connected to their TVs and simply plug in up to two My Passport USB drives or other USB mass storage devices loaded with HD media. Using the included remote control, they can navigate and play their content with the media player’s high-definition on-screen menu. With My Passport drives now available in 500GB capacities, users can build large collections on multiple drives, all playable by WD TV.”

Nokia has announced a new CDMA mobile phone. This new model is Nokia 2228.

Nokia 2228 is a slim compact mobile phone and it comes loaded with a 1.3 megapixel camera.

The device is also capable of playing media files. It supports a variety of formats including MP4, AAC, AAC+, MP3 and MIDI.

Nokia has also loaded the device with speaker dependent voice recognition in addition to integrated handsfree speaker.

It has 20-25 MB of usable storage memory. PC connectivity is available through MicroUSB. Users can connect their headphones through the 2.5mm universal headset jack.

Nokia is going to offer this device in select markets in the last quarter of the current year.

Ecamm Network has announced the updated edition of their Call Recorder add-on app for Skype VoIP software.

The latest version now is Call Recorder 2.3.1. The update is free for registered users. New users can purchase it for $14.95.

The application is useful for recording conversations made using the Skype application. It support H.264 and AAC formats. It can also record Skype video sessions as well.

The company said that the updated edition improves compatibility with Skype for Mac 2.7. They have also added some new tools in the application like Split Sides of Conversation and Convert for Internet.
