Synaptics Gesture Suite Linux for TouchPads announced
Synaptics has announced their Synaptics Gesture Suite™ Linux for TouchPads.
This application suite is designed for the Linux platform and bring gesture support on several operating systems.
The company said in a note:
Synaptics Gesture Suite Linux (SGS-L) provides users with a powerful and intuitive way to be more productive and interactive with their Linux based notebook systems. SGS-L was developed from analyzing the most common workflows, from entertainment activities such as viewing photos and listening to music, to productivity activities such as accessing emails and presentations. The result is an enhanced usability model that makes it intuitive for consumers to easily understand and discover features, resulting in a better user experience.
They are aiming to collaborate with system manufacturers and bundle it with notebooks and netbooks. Google Chrome OS is also likely to feature support for it.
They are supporting several Linux distributions including Fedora, Millos Linpus, Red Flag, SLED 11 (SuSE), Ubuntu, and Xandros.
