Microsoft Windows Live finally talks about spam on their Messenger network

Microsoft Windows Live team has finally blogged about the rampant spam on their Messenger network.

If you are a heavy user of MSN Live Messenger application you would have noticed invites from random strangers.

Microsoft alerts that if you accept a rogue invitation, you can compromise the security of your profile enabling them to get access to your friend list.

The best way to deal with it is to check the profile of the invitee to see if it is a real person or not. If you are sure about the spammy nature of the invite, use the option to block the person and report it to the company representatives.

We use Pidgin to connect to MSN Live Messenger network and well it becomes a major headache for us when this happens.
