Nokia has confirmed that they have acquired a small Norway based company Smarterphone.
Smarterphone is behind a mobile operating system aimed at feature phones. With this Nokia gets another platform that could someday power their basic phones.
Nokia already develop devices powered by multiple platforms like S40, Symbian and Windows Phone. They also recently launched a MeeGo powered N9 smartphone though no more devices are expected based on it.
The company has not commented on why they acquired another mobile platform.
