SETI makes available their data under open source license

SETI is one of the most ambitious projects on the web. It stands for search for extra terrestrial intelligence and they use contributed computing power from around the world to hunt for ET signals in the space.

The project has been running for 25 years without any major success (in finding extra terrestrial intelligence) and the operators are now looking towards expanding the scope.

SETI has launched a new project at setiQUEST.org where they are making available all of the collected data along with their search code.

They are looking for open source developers who can contribute to their project. SETI said:

In the future, we hope that a global army of open-source code developers, students and other experts in digital signal processing, as well as citizen scientists willing to lend their intelligence to our exploration, will have access to the same technology and join our quest.
