Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab would not get Android Ice Cream Sandwich

Samsung has some terrible news for hundreds of thousands of owners of their Galaxy S and (original) Galaxy Tab devices.

The company has officially announced that these devices would not get an official update to Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

Samsung said that these devices do not have the hardware resources to support ICS along with their TouchWiz enhancements in addition to other additional software like Widgets and country/carrier specific apps.

This is pretty sad as Google has already started releasing the Android ICS update for the Nexus S smartphone which is based on Galaxy S. Google’s update of course is the stock Android build with no third party enhancement.

Owners of Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab would now have to rely on third party builds to get the Android ICS updates if they want them.
