Reports claim Disney interested in acquiring Pixar
Wall Street Journal has reported that the entertainment industry giants Disney are talking with Pixar over a possible acquisition deal. They have cited people involved in the deal. However, nothing is confirmed for now. WSJ also said that the talks might result in a deal that would see Disney paying a premium over the current market value of Pixar Studios.
As per the market reports, the deal might be conducted in a stock transaction and would result in Pixar Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs becoming the biggest individual stock owner in Disney. However, the talks are in a very primitive stage and nothing can be said for sure for now.
If the talks for an acquisition fail, it might lead to other possible deals between the two companies. This might include Disney distributing Pixar movies or maybe other kind of collaborative efforts. The two companies have been dealing with each other since a long time. None of the companies has released any statement related to these market rumors.
