Google makes available reMail as an open source project
Google had last month acquired the iPhone app named reMail.
reMail had become fairly popular as it enabled iPhone owners to download their emails from Gmail (and other IMAP powered email) on their mobiles. The entire email database could be searched pretty fast.
Google removed the app from the Apple App Store after acquisition disappointing the fans.
The company has now announced their plans for this technology and it is pretty awesome.
reMail developer Gabor Csell has announced that they are making available the code of reMail through an open source license.
The idea is to invite developers to use it to develop new tools and services and further enhance it. We wish to see a version for Android soon enough!
reMail is now available on the Google Code site under the Apache License 2.0.
