Qosmio G30: Toshiba HD-DVD laptop coming this May
Japan based tech giants Toshiba has said that they would be launching the first notebook products featuring the HD DVD drives in may this year. They would first be launched in the Japanese market.
Qosmio G30 would be the first product from the company to feature this next generation DVD drive. Toshiba developed this format, which is competing with Sony’s Blu-Ray format to become the standard for the storage requirement of data intensive fields.
This format was introduced in the market just a couple of weeks ago with Toshiba selling the HD DVD players in the market. These products are now available for sale in both Japan and USA.
Sony’s Blu-Ray devices would arrive in the market in June and the company expects it to become popular when they launch the next generation Playstation 3 gaming console in the market sometime later this year.
Toshiba Qosmio G30 would feature a 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo processor and will have a 17-inch widescreen LCD (liquid crystal display) panel with 1,920 by 1,200 pixel (WUXGA) resolution. The HD DVD drive included in this package would able to play HD-DVD-ROM discs and read and write CDs and DVDs, including DVD+/-R DL (dual-layer) and DVD-RAM.
It is expected to cost a massive $3,383 in Japan.
