Porsche to build Panamera, a four-door, four-seat sports car
Luxury sports carmaker and legendary brand owner Porsche has said that they are planning to add on a new vehicle in their already amazing lineup. The company is planning to develop a four-door, four-seat sports car which they expect to put up for sale sometime by the end of this decade. The expected launch date is said to be 2009 and it is going to be yet another awesome product from the company.
The company has codenamed the model ‘Panamera’ and they expect to manufacture around 20,000 vehicles annually. There is no expected retail value suggested by the company yet though the market experts believe it to come in the range from $125,000 to $175,000 per car depending upon what customization the customer asks for. Porsche is expected to spend around 1 billion euros on the development of this model.
The car might feature inputs from the existing models from the company such as Cayenne sport utility vehicle and Carrera GT sports car as the artist’s drawing of this model displays a low-slung, four-door sports car with narrow side windows and flowing lines. The company currently sells three models in Cayenne, 911 and the Boxster.
Porsche has yet not decided on where to produce the cars though it is looking at locations in Leipzig where it already produces Cayenne and Carrera GT models. The production plant is expected to generate around 600 new jobs in addition to 400 extra jobs that the company would generate for the plant, which would be manufacturing the engines for this car.
