Nokia launches Nokia 6131, Nokia 6136, and Nokia 6070
World’s largest maker of mobile phones Nokia has launched three new models. These new models are Nokia 6131, Nokia 6136, and Nokia 6070. The company is hoping to sell millions of units of the first one (Nokia 6131) as Kai Oistamo, head of Nokia’s Mobile Phones unit said in a statement: “We believe this will be one of the most sold mid-range phones in the world.â€
The company did well in 2005 with a spate of new launches targeting all the segments of the ever-growing mobile market. Now, they are targeting to capture more of the middle level market, which is one of the fastest growing segments in the world. This is also necessary to counter the popularity of the hugely successful Moto Razr model in North America.
Oistamo added: “We have worked on the mid-ranged phones extensively … we have completely renewed our mid-range portfolio in the last six months.†The company is also targeting to capture 40% of the world’s mobile market and as of now makes one in every three mobile phones sold worldwide.
Nokia is aiming to sell the newly launched Nokia 6131 for around 275 euros in the market. The other model Nokia 6136 comes equipped with a camera and would allow the user to connect to wireless network hotspots. It would be priced at same rates as the Nokia 6131.
The third new model is the Nokia 6070, which would have a retail price of about 135 euros. The company plans to make these available in the retail market by the second quarter of the current year.
