Microsoft has no plans to launch a new Office for OS X right now

Microsoft Office 2013 is going to be released later this year. They have already released a public beta which we believe is a fantastic update and should do well.

The company has now indicated that they currently have no plans to launch a new edition of Office for OS X.

Traditionally, Microsoft has released a new version of Office around one year after a version is released on the Windows platform.

So, we might see a new Office for Mac release next year or in 2014. But for now, they are not saying anything.

Microsoft did however say that they are developing SkyDrive and Office 365 update for the Office for Mac 2011 edition. This is required to enable cloud support in the Mac edition of Office which is one of the highlight new features of Office 2013.
