Microsoft paid Nokia around USD 250 million as part of their partnership

Nokia did not highlight it for obvious reasons but their quarterly revenue report revealed that they received a payment of around USD 250 million from Microsoft.

This payment is noted as part of the broad strategic agreement between the two companies.

Nokia and Microsoft might say anything about this payment but it is pretty clear that Nokia is literally being paid to use Windows Phone on their new smartphones. Nokia ditched MeeGo to adopt Windows Phone platform which did not make a lot of people happy.

Online reports indicate that this payment is expected to continue for a couple of quarters more and Nokia is likely to end up getting around USD 1 billion from Microsoft.
