McAfee customers disappointed by how the company handled messed up update
McAfee issued an update for their security software applications two days ago which did not work out well for their customers.
The problem was with users who were running Windows XP Service Pack 3.
McAfee products started detecting a legitimate system file as a virus causing the system to reboot repeatedly.
It took the company hours to realize the problem and remove the patch update from their own servers.
Affected machines are in such a state that it requires a technical person to fix them. And each machine has to be dealt with individually.
Online sources suggest that the company’s support forum and customer care centers were pretty much incapable of helping the customers who put in their complaints.
It remains to be seen what actions are taken by their paying corporate customers for this damage caused by an officially issued software update.
