Maruti Suzuki might discontinue Zen model
We had this inside information since quite sometime. A source working in Delphi India had informed us that the component suppliers for the Maruti Udyog had stopped manufacturing parts for the popular Maruti Zen model and this means that the company was contemplating stopping the production of this popular model.
The news got somewhat confirmed today when I went to a Maruti showroom with plans to buy myself the Zen Lxi. One of the dude confirmed that the company had stopped the production of the car and are just selling the leftover units.
I ended up buying a Suzuki Swift for myself, which is not a very good deal in my opinion. Apparently, Maruti has left no options for anyone who dislikes the looks of WagonR and finds the Alto puny and powerless. Swift is no lover of high speeds when compared to the fabulous Maruti Zen but the company has way too many products in a limited price range and this has probably led them to discontinue the once very popular Zen Model.
Maruti has not confirmed this in a statement though it now looks more than speculative that Zen is being discontinued. Maruti might now be considering launching Suzuki Ignis as Maruti Zen in the Indian market in the coming months. Or maybe not!
