Maruti to invest big and launch five models
Maruti Suzuki has no plans to sit on the laurels of their recently launched Suzuki Swift model in the Indian market. The company has said that they are aiming at further investing around Rs 2,718 crore in the Indian market by 2008. This would help them launch five new vehicles including a diesel car in the next couple of years.
The company is facing increasing competition from companies like Hyundai and Tata Motors. However, they have done well and continue to dominate the Indian market. Maruti Udyog Managing Director Jagdish Khattar has also confirmed that most of this investment would be made in launching new models in the Indian market.
Khattar added: “The diesel engine plant will be ready by the end of this year and along with it will come a new diesel car model in the Indian market.†the Indian consumer is waiting for the company to launch a diesel version of Maruti Suzuki Swift considering Hyundai has similar plans to launch a CRDI model of Hyundai Getz.
Maruti said that they are aiming at launching one new model every year for the next five years. They are showcasing the SUV ‘Escudo’ apart from ‘Solio’ at the ongoing Auto Expo in New Delhi.
