Mahindra has been working on a smaller variant of Xylo SUV for the Indian market.
The idea was to make an affordable SUV model that can take on the sedans in the market.
The company has now indicated that they are aiming for a launch around Diwali which is the best time to launch cars.
Mahindra indicated that the top end model of this smaller Xylo might cost more than the base model of the current Xylo.
There are strong indications that the base model could be priced competitively at around Rs. 5 lakhs that would make it a solid alternative for car buyers.
Mahindra said: “The compact Xylo will come by Diwali this year… When a completely new vehicle is introduced in a new price band, then it usually creates its own segment and customer base. This may do the same.”
The company sells some of the most popular models in the SUV market including the Scorpio, and XUV500.
