Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mobile 2.0: Antivirus products for Symbian based smartphones
Kaspersky Lab has released an anti-virus product for smartphones running Symbian operating system. This product has been named Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mobile 2.0 and they claim that this product would stop suspicious programs before they infect the phone.
Users would also be able to scan their smartphones for malicious software. They are however not a new player in this segment as many more security application makers have released similar products for the mobile market.
The company said in a statement that its software is equipped to blocked suspect SMS and MMS messages. They would be using a blacklist to compare these messages before a user can open them and possibly get infected by the bad ones.
Users can download this application on their devices using WAP or HTTP connectivity. Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mobile 2.0 is compatible with Symbian 6.1, 7.0s, 8.0 or 8.1 OS versions. Owners of Series 60 based products would also be able to use this product.
Kaspersky added that the next version of this product would support more platforms like Symbian Series UIQ and Microsoft’s Windows Mobile versions 2003 and 5.0. Selected beta testers would be given the final release of this product free of cost.
