It is Google.com not Googkle.com
It is a classic case of domain typo squatting. Google happens to be world’s favorite search engine and they have tried hard to cover every possible typo with their name to prevent similar incidents. However, they could not be perfect as the latest reports in talks about a domain name Googkle.com. It is quite similar to Google.com and there is a good probability of a user typing in the false identity instead of the popular search engine.
It makes use of the lack of awareness of the users surfing on insecure browsers. The site is loaded with malicious codes consisting of Trojan droppers, downloaders, backdoors, and Spyware. F-Secure, an international PC Security software company claims that a simple visit to this website can lead to potential security issues for an unsuspecting user.
As per reports, the site when opened in a browser opens up two pop-up windows redirecting to third party sites loaded with scripts. These sites download files to the computer leading to more problems. In the end, the computer is infected with spywares and Trojans. However, the recently updated Internet Explorer (Windows XP Service Pack 2) is reported to be safe from this threat. So are the alternative browsers like Opera and Mozilla Firefox.
