Internet Explorer market share falls below 60%
Net Applications has reported that the market share of Internet Explorer has fallen below 60% for the first time in many years.
Most of the growth has been reported by Google Chrome which now has a 6.73% share in the market.
Mozilla Firefox has a 24.59% market share. Apple Safari is at the fourth spot with 4.72% share of the market.
Opera continues to remain a niche browser with a 2.30% market share.
The report also stated that Opera Mini is the only mobile browser to make a mark with a 0.79% share of the overall market.
Microsoft is promising major changes in Internet Explorer 9 which is likely to arrive later this year. It would be the first IE edition designed for HTML5 services with support for critical elements like < video > tag.
