India’s Union human resource development ministry has indicated that they are aiming to launch the second generation Aakash Tablet PC by May this year.
The new model would feature improved specifications including a capacitive display to make it more useful.
The ministry has already said that they are aiming to price it at similar levels to the first generation model.
India’s Union minister of state, human resource development ministry, Dr. D. Purandeswari spoke about this upcoming model:
Aakash-2 tablets, which are improvised tablets with a faster processor and a capacitive touch screen, will be launched in April-May. We will be making it available to college and university students at the same price as Aakash-1 tablets. After gauging its success at higher education level, we will make the tablets available for school students also.
