India’s 3G and WiMax guidelines to be announced next month
A Raja, Minister for Communications & IT had announced that the government would be coming out with their guidelines for 3G and WiMax next month.
They are aiming to launch these services in the Indian market by the end of the current year or early next year.
Raja was speaking at the Global Telecom Summit organized by Assocham.
He added that foreign players in this industry would be allowed to participate in the spectrum auction.
Raja added: “If there is common auction or open auction, there will be no bar. Up to 74% FDI is allowed in Indian telecoms firm, and these partnerships can also start 3G service. Either way foreign players will be allowed.”
