HTC is rumored to be working on their own digital media service. The company could announce this new platform at the upcoming Mobile World Congress.
HTC’s recent moves have indicated that they are getting serious about music. The company acquired a major stake in Beats Audio technology and has been selling smartphones loaded with its technology.
Beats co-founder Jimmy Iovine is said to be involved in this new service from the company.
Music streaming would bring its own range of headaches for the company. They would have to secure rights for music from all the major music labels in addition to indie producers for all their major markets. Without these rights, the service launch would rather be a disappointment for their fans.
Few companies in the world have managed to do it successfully. Google for example is still offering their services in the US market alone.
