Google has rolled out an update to their Website Translator plugin for web publishers.
Web publishers can now run a modified code on their sites. This new update allows them to customize the translation of content on their web pages.
These custom translations are implemented in real time and are used whenever a visitor turns on the translation using Google engine.
Google spoke about this enhancement:
Once you add the customization meta tag to a webpage, visitors will see your customized translations whenever they translate the page, even when they use the translation feature in Chrome and Google Toolbar. They’ll also now be able to ‘suggest a better translation’ when they notice a translation that’s not quite right, and later you can accept and use that suggestion on your site.
