Google has just announced that their Google Public DNS service is now handling more than 70 billion requests a day.
This makes this platform more than just an experimental service as millions of users around the world are relying upon it. This is pretty impressive because Google does not promote the service much and it does not even have its own dedicated website. It is literally hosted as a project on Google Code website!
Google claims that this makes this the world’s largest public DNS service.
Incidentally, OpenDNS makes similar claim. We checked their blog and they had a post in July last year stating that they were serving more than 30,000,000 users making them the world’s largest public DNS service platform.
We imagine that OpenDNS would come out with a statement disputing Google’s claims with updated statistics.
