Google promises Google Maps would remain accessible on most platforms

Google did not talk about the rumors about an Apple Maps service that could replace Google Maps in iOS 6 today but they did say that they are committed to supporting as many platforms as possible with their mapping technology.

This means that Google would probably continue to work on Google Maps for Apple iOS devices in the future which is good news for the fans of Apple iPhone and iPad.

Apple is expected to announce details about iOS 6 at an event scheduled for this month. It would be interesting to see how powerful their rumored mapping platform is compared to solutions available today.

Microsoft has already started collaborating with Nokia on Bing Maps. Microsoft Bing Maps and Nokia Maps are sharing information allowing both the platforms to flourish. Google is fighting its own battle against them and open source solutions like OpenStreetMap.
