Google has announced some major enhancements to their Google Product Search platform to make online shopping easy this holiday season.
Here are some of the major updates:
Google would now showcase a best match product at the top in case you search for a specific product model.
For generic searches, Google would showcase popular products that match your searched keywords.
Product pages would now feature more detailed descriptions when available. Highlights would be available at the top and they would stick if you scroll down to go through the complete product profile.
Google has also enhanced apparel shopping experience borrowing some features from their specialized Boutiques.com platform. Google said:
Back in September, we introduced the first of our efforts to improve the apparel shopping experience on Google Product Search, incorporating the most popular features from Boutiques.com. We’ve now expanded this experience to include shoes (ex: platform pumps), displaying larger product images and giving you more ways to refine your search by brand, color, style, and other criteria. As with dresses, when you click on a particular shoe, the product page displays visually similar styles giving you more products to browse and consider as you shop.
The mobile edition of the Google Product Search engine now features curated homepage showcasing popular products that are being searched for by other people. This is a good place to start in case you want to purchase a gift but do not have anything specific in mind!
