Google beats Apple to become the world’s most influential brand of 2005

Apple Computers might be on a high in the recent times with record-breaking sales of their Apple iPod music players and new range of Intel powered Mac computers, but they cannot match the charisma of Google and its services. Google has been named as the most influential brand of the year 2005.

They have managed to take back this title after losing to Apple last year. The third place in the title hunt went to VoIP experts Skype, which are now owned by ecommerce giants eBay. The survey was conducted by online branding magazine brandchannel.com and often results in controversial results.

However, this year’s results were pretty mature and were answers to the question: “Which brand had the most impact on our lives in 2005?” Google has had a phenomenal 2005 with the company expanding their core services. Their regional services are getting more and more popular and their shopping search engine Froogle became a major hit during the holiday season.

This year is going to be another challenge for the search engine giant and Microsoft would launch a major offensive against their search engine with integrated MSN Services in the upcoming Microsoft Vista Operating System scheduled for launch later this year.
