Google has made another acquisition and this one is pretty big. They have acquired Quickoffice!
Quickoffice offer office suites for multiple mobile platforms including Apple iOS, Google Android and Symbian.
This means that Google now has proper apps for word processing, spreadsheets and presentations! The company has offered online solutions for the same until now.
Acquiring Quickoffice should mean that Google can now offer free mobile apps for editing documents on the move on mobile devices even when the user is offline. This is something that Google Apps lacks currently.
Google spoke about the deal:
Today, consumers, businesses and schools use Google Apps to get stuff done from anywhere, with anyone and on any device. Quickoffice has an established track record of enabling seamless interoperability with popular file formats, and we’ll be working on bringing their powerful technology to our Apps product suite.
