Global Warming is here for real
Researchers at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography have confirmed that they have seen the first clear evidences of the fact that human activity has indeed led to warming of the world’s oceans. This leaves little doubt in the common belief that human manufactured “greenhouse gases” are the main cause of global climate change. The study was presented yesterday at a scientific conference in Washington, D.C.
The institute also believes that even if the environmental changes were made immediately, it would not help stop dramatic water shortages, melting glaciers and ice packs, and other crises in the next 20 years. A marine physicist at Scripps, Tim Barnett said in the released information: “The implications are huge … and in the short term, we’re sort of screwed”.
He also opined that the USA Government should consider this problem very serious and take actions immediately. However, a government representative did not show my concerns about this study… Bill Holbrook, spokesperson for the White House Council on Environmental Quality told the media: “Our position has been the same for a long time. The science of global climate change is uncertain.”
US Government also said that they are putting apart nearly US$2 billion a year for their own study on the climatic changes and they are committed to policies that cut greenhouse gases significantly by 2012. However, countries around the world have often criticized the US government for not talking these environmental issues seriously.
