This was long expected and Encyclopaedia Britannica has finally confirmed it. They would no longer have a print edition.
Encyclopaedia Britannica would become a digital only encyclopedia with a yearly subscription offer.
The company is also offering mobile apps at affordable prices to provide access to their database.
Encyclopaedia Britannica spoke about their decision to end print version: “The print edition became more difficult to maintain and wasn’t the best physical element to deliver the quality of our database and the quality of our editorial. Britannica was one of the first companies to really feel the full impact of technology, maybe twenty years ago, and we have been adapting to it, though it is very difficult at times.”
