Digg Link Shortener would only work with submitted stories

Digg has announced another change of policy on their network.

The company has already announced that they are killing the DiggBar.

Now they are changing how Digg can be used as a link shortening service.

From May 17, Digg short links would only work for stories that are submitted on the Digg network.

Digg said in a blog posting:

However, it will not be possible to generate a short URL for a web URL that does not refer to a submitted story on Digg. The “shorturl.create” method in Digg API will be deprecated as of that date. Previously generated Digg short URLs will continue to operate beyond this date.
