China has become the world’s first country to have more than 1 billion mobile subscribers.
This would be hard to match considering the huge population of China. India could probably be the next to cross the milestone but it would take some years.
The country saw addition of more than 20 million connections in the first two months of the year which enabled it to cross the milestone.
Chinese people are shutting down their landline connections to move to mobile devices which are fueling this growth.
Reports said that around 144 million subscribers are also using 3G connectivity on their phones which again is a phenomenal number that is expected to grow in the future.
