Microsoft Bing would follow Google Search into becoming a HTTPS only service

Microsoft has great news for privacy fanatics. The company has announced that they plan to make their Bing search engine a HTTPS only service.

This means that all searches would be conducted over a secure encrypted network. And the websites getting the traffic would no longer get the referral data which they get today.

Google did the same with their search engine a few years ago.

Beginning this summer, we will begin the process of encrypting search traffic by default. This means that traffic originating from Bing will increasingly come from https://www.bing.com as opposed to http://www.bing.com.

Twitter today announced a new feature that you might want to disable right away.

Audio would be mute by default and users would be able to click on the videos to turn the sound on.

The company added:

Remember, you have ultimate control through your settings. You can choose to revert to the previous click-to-play experience all the time or simply have videos autoplay only when you’re connected to wifi. If you’re somewhere with high data rates or you have low bandwidth on your device, we’ll opt you out of autoplay to avoid unexpected charges or slow performance; so you’ll continue to see videos as click-to-play.
