Opera gains from Browser ballot in Europe
Opera has stated that they have already started seeing gains from the European market due to the recently launched browser ballot in Windows Operating Systems.
The company said that more than half of the downloads in Europe are originating from the browser ballot screen.
Håkon Wium Lie, CTO of Opera Software spoke about the new developments: “This confirms that when users are given a real choice on how they choose the most important piece of software on their computer, the browser, they will try out alternatives. A multitude of browsers will make the web more standardized and easier to browse.”
Opera was one of the companies that had challenged the domination of Internet Explorer on the Windows platform. They had claimed that Microsoft had an unfair advantage as they shipped Windows OS with Internet Explorer as the default browser.
