Brightcove is ready for Apple iPad with HTML5 video player
Brightcove has announced that they are ready for the launch of the Apple iPad tablet PC with extended support for HTML5 based video playing.
The company already support video playing on the iPhone and iPod Touch. They are now going to detect visitors from Apple iPad and support video playing through a HTML5 player.
Brightcove said in a statement on their website: ‘The Brightcove Experience for HTML5 solution eliminates these challenges by delivering a high quality, interactive and fully monetizable video experience to viewers on HTML5-capable devices.’
The company further said:
The Brightcove Experience for HTML5 is provided at no charge to customers with subscriptions to Brightcove Professional, Enterprise, and Express $499 editions. An early version of the automatic device detection and HTML5 player template are available in the Brightcove Developer Center. Additional capabilities will be provided in future versions released throughout 2010.
This is excellent news for the Apple iPad (and other similar device users)… The New York Times and Time are two large media companies which use solutions provided by Brightcove for their video streaming solutions… These websites automatically becomes compatible with the Apple iPad!
