Baidu.com launches digital music service in collaboration with EMI
China’s leading search engine company Baidu.com has launched their own digital music service in collaboration with the music company EMI.
Interestingly, this service would let the web users listen to streaming music for free. Baidu.com expects to enhance their user base with the launch of this new service.
The two companies are also considering offering free music downloads on the web site. This music streaming service would feature Chinese pop music by performers from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan.
Baidu.com has been pretty active in this field of offering various free services to their visitors. Last year in October they went into a deal with MTV Networks to distribute music videos and other programming online.
China happens to be the second largest internet market in the world and with global leaders including Google and MSN expanding in this country, Baidu.com needs to remain competitive.
